Norwich Nature Area Adds Accessible Trails to its Trail Network

Upgrades to existing trails allow for every student at the Marion Cross School to access outdoor classrooms.

The Norwich Nature Area is a 36-acre conserved property adjacent to the Marion Cross Elementary School. The area is owned by the town of Norwich, managed by the Milton Frye Natural Area Committee, and conserved by the Upper Valley Land Trust.

The Upper Valley Trails Alliance, in partnership with the Dresden School District, the Marion Cross School, and the Town of Norwich installed a 1/3-mile wheelchair accessible loop trail in the Norwich Nature Area adjacent to the Marion Cross School in Norwich, VT. 

The project was implemented in two phases in 2022 and 2023 and now all students have access to a variety of outdoor classrooms at the site.
