RTP grants are federally funded on an annual basis through the United States Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and are administered at the State level in Vermont through the Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation (FPR). This grant program has provided over $9 million since 2008 for trail construction and maintenance for trail projects for municipalities and nonprofits across the state.The timeline for the 2024-2025 RTP community grant round is now available on FPR’s website. The next grant round will open in early October 2024.

This project was created in collaboration with the Vermont Outdoor Recreation Economic Collaborative (VOREC). This project was supported by a grant from the Northern Border Regional Commission. Funding for this project was made possible in part with a Rural Business Development Grant from USDA Rural Development.
