Town clerks are giving away eclipse viewing glasses, tourists have filled every available room in the eclipses path, and schools are sending students home early to keep people off the roads. The April 8 solar eclipse will be here soon, and with it throngs of visitors who want the best viewing spot.
Trail managers need to play a key role directing people to the best places for viewing, and help keep people off trails and away from dirt roads in mud season. Even if you are not within the eclipse path, you may have visitors wanting to get outside. Help them find the best places and at the same time, send a clear message that Vermont is open, but trails are closed.
FPR, GMC and Trail Finder have made it easy to help spread the word. Please share these resources on your website, through enews, Front Porch Forum and social media. Share with town officials, parks and recreation personnel, town road crews, conservation commissions, and anyone else that you know who manages natural resources.
