SUMMARY:PARKS & RECREATION ADA BOOTCAMP
DESCRIPTION:Recreation is more than a pastime\, it’s an integral part of the human experience\, with widespread advantages in preventing\, alleviating\, and managing disability and chronic conditions. \nThat’s why the Great Plains ADA Center is excited to extend an invitation to the Parks & Recreation ADA Bootcamp\, happening August 12th to 15th\, 2025 at the Harkin Institute in Des Moines\, IA.  Registration is limited to the first 60 registrants! \nThis four-day event is designed to empower participants to become leaders in accessible recreation within their state or local organizations. With a focus on accessible recreation\, this bootcamp is tailored for a diverse audience\, spanning Title II and III entities under the ADA\, along with other participants passionate about accessible recreation. Participants will experience an immersive learning journey that covers legal responsibilities\, the intricacies of inclusive design\, and best practices in accessible recreation. \nWhy attend? \nExpert-led sessions. Learn from leading professionals in accessible recreation. \nInteractive off-site field trips. Apply concepts through hands-on experiences in real-world settings. \nOptional certification advancement opportunities. Earn 22 elective credits for certification success through ACTCP\, making significant progress toward certification or enhancing your current role as an ADA Coordinator. \nEveryone’s welcome. Whether pursuing ACTCP certification\, looking to deepen your knowledge as an ADA Coordinator\, or simply eager to expand your understanding\, this event is for you. \nPlus\, an added dose of fun to make your learning experience truly memorable! \nRegistration Deadline is July 11\, 2025 or when the event is sold out; whichever comes first.  Only 60 seats available! \nCancellations must be received prior to July 11th to qualify for a 90% refund.  Cancellations received/requested after July 11th are not eligible for refunds. \nSubstitutions can be made at any time at no additional charge.  ADA accommodation requests for substitute attendees made after July 11th will be provided if possible\, but are not guaranteed.

We are looking for workshops that will help the volunteers and professionals who steward our parks\, trails\, and recreation assets – – the executive directors and decision-makers as well as the volunteers who lead programs and build trails and everyone in between – – do their work better. \nVTGC and VRPA membership organizations are looking for workshops that include elements of:\n\n\nBoard and organizational development;\nProgram & Event development & management;\nElevating communications\, membership\, recruitment\, and fundraising;\nAsset management (trail building\, park management\, etc.);\nStakeholder engagement;\nRegional\, cross-organization\, municipal\, and statewide collaborations;\nResponding to climate change emergencies;\nPersonnel opportunities and challenges\, Workforce development;\nStrategic planning\, long-term visioning\, and program development;\nAdvancing equity;\n…and more!\n\n\n\nIf you have developed a new angle on a program that you think others might like to replicate\, have a method for bringing stakeholder groups together\, or a unique way that you have raised funds in your community\, chances are there are others that might like to learn about it.
